Bright Ideas...1

To compliment my Bright Ideas paper I have now decided to offer you a Bright Ideas post, so this will be posted every 2 - 4 weeks then the online newsletter based version as per normal every quarter.  You can download the published edition each quarter so that at the end of the year you have your very own guide packed full of good ideas on how to use your imagery to your brands best advantage be it PR, Events or advertising photography being discussed.

To get things started lets look at Start Ups, this can also apply to all brands really wishing to cement or illustrate their brand core values, people, style and business with photography.  These are all Bright Ideas however that I would suggest you might like to consider.

When you read text your brain conjures up visual images.  When you hear the word 'exciting' or 'community' your brain again creates mini visuals in your head, people tend to think visually.....

1) The home page on your website should definitely have a strong image on it.  It should give the viewer an insight into what your company does but also how they do it.  So if your traditional in method then maybe use more traditional photographic or imaging process's, or if you are modern and fresh then express this using lighting by making things clean, bright or colourful.
2) Think about using images on the different pages of your site or in various sections.  For example, you have a contact us page...make it more inviting by illustrating that contact through a photograph of a telephone box, a phone cable, a handshake, maybe something a little bit more quirky.  Get creative!
3) Incorporate your core values into each image and make sure the pictures remain consistent, so the same 'style' of shot throughout.  Offer continuity & recognition as all of this will help people to remember your business and build up a picture of it in their head.
4) Fit the images with your brand colours or logo.  So think of things like what colour text the images are going to be used alongside, what other pictures are being used on the same page and even try and incorporate some of your brand colours into the picture.  You don't have to go crazy but just suggestions or hints will work great.
5)....Ok I could go on but the post would end up far too long to read & there will be nothing left to put in the next one!!  If you found these useful and want to have a chat further about finding the right photographs for your new website, marketing material or promotional goods then get in touch; I would be happy to offer any advise I can.

Be a high watt light bulb...

So as you can see the blog has undergone a make over! I felt it was time for something a little different and to bring the blog a little more in line with my website, I hope I have done that and can create a little more lovin (hello Barry White) between the two.

Things should be easier to find, more fun to view and most importantly more about you! Yes really, I am here to make sure I can service you so let me know what you want or don't want and it will certainly be considered!

For the moment I leave you with a large yawn and a link to one of the best sites I stumbled across this year....not because its a great website (although lovely I am sure) but because it gave me access to a rather energetic Marketing Seminar which has armed me with a bag full of exciting marketing tips and a head full of ideas.

Leather strapped decisions...

My biggest conundrum today is....which boots to get?!
Black go with everything or Brown also go with everything? It is a tough one!

Well I needed something to keep me motivated while making calls to various South East Venues about Christmas Events and so forth. Its only 7 weeks away or something and I needed to get on it in terms of getting some seasonal work. I should have been 'on it' about 2 months ago, again, bad planning. If I am still here next year...I promise I will think ahead more!!

My planning will look like this:
Jan - July
Get over the sherry hangover and say a happy new year to all your clients.
Continue to build on my events guide for 2010.
Call, call and call business's to promote my services - concentrate on advertising and PR agencies
Decide on an actual marketing budget and plan for it - help needed for this I think
Work work and work
Market Market and Market
Network Network Network
Events Events Events
Research Research and more research
Assist - I have decided 8 weeks are being dedicated to assisting.
Aug
Xmas Events! There it is....start in August!
Get to London Fashion Week
Sep - Dec
Hopefully actually work!

I better actually write a plan like this, you know, running a business and all that. There is a lot I would like to achieve next year. Hmmmm, Christmas project for sure. My next two years in business, planning and execution. Scary.

Like my buns?

Have been to see a creative agency today, fabulous folk and wanted to leave them something special. There I was the other night thinking about things that I could do when as per usual I had an urge for something sweet, me and sweet things are like totally bezzy mates doooode. Anyway, BAMM! It hit me. Cakes. I would give them cakes. Okay okay so nothing great there so I got some icing branded, got some plain cake boxes and jazzed them up a little and I am really chuffed with the results!! Marketing....here we come!! I hope they like them when I drop them off tomorrow and thank them for their time today.

Oooo on another note......new shoes!!! Yay!!

Fear, Goals, Money & Marketing....

The last couple of days I have spent time in fear, actual fear.  Why you ask, because money is tight and I am honestly wondering if I will be able to survive this year.  I know I should keep going and nothing gets results like being a little scared.  I am pushing my marketing to the limit and investing a lot of time in trying to contact new and existing clients.  One of the things I have also decided to embark on is a monthly newsletter.  This will go to the 'artsy' clients and the corproate clients so coming up with something that fulfills all those needs was a toughey but hopefully....I have managed to achieve it!  It launches on the 28th so naturally darlings...you will have the first peak of it!

So with the corporate side covered just still very much in progress it is onwards and upwards with the fashion side of things.

A gallery in Denmark has expressed interest in some of my images, I am in talks with Monica Din n AKA Chocolcate Blonde about an up and coming shoot which will fuse in a giant messy train crash music, fashion and her wild personality and in the next couple of weeks I am meeting the editor of Blah Blah magazine.  This magazine is Reading born and bred and I am very excited, I hope that we get on, I don't end up spilling my classic Earl Grey or Mocha Latte over the poor man and that he finds my ramblings and work interesting enough so that I can somehow get involved.

So this post has turned into another random assortment of thoughts but I am trying to spread the love at the moment.  Encourage people to get together as a community and support small business' and each other in these tough times.  Community and support of each other I think is the winner here and I for sure will be using this as my marketing tool!

Good luck to you all I say and if I can possibly make any recommendations then the below websites / tips may be useful:
