Catching up......

A La Mode Fashion Pics are now live and can be seen various places so check it out! Really pleased with the images altho disappointed with lens sharpness in some of them, but hey you live and learn.  The light in there was good though and not any strobes or nasty redness so yippee!  Posted some pics in my previous post but here is one of my favourites..... this model just looks beautiful and i caught her just as she seemed to be thinking of the daunting task of walking down the catwalk!  I love the emotion in her eyes.

The night was a blast and everyone was lovely.  No 'Fashion Darlings' anywhere!!  Just a good bunch of people all loving fashion.......another show to come on 18th September so if you want to learn more or see the press write up and more of my images visit http://yolandeletshou.blogspot.com/

Pics can be purchased from the night by fashion designers, press, managers, PR, guests, models and hair stylists.....please go to www.carli-art.co.uk/login and the A La Mode Gallery.

Even more pictures news and last Sunday saw another amazing installment of Fat Talent.  The roof was truly rocked as we crammed people into the venue, seeing record crowds turn out to watch some of the best in emerging UK talent.  Pictures can be seen at www.carli-art.co.uk/login and the 'Fat Talent Live March' gallery.

Sleeping sweetly.....

Apparently people sleep you know...not that I have had very much of that this weekend but then thats what its all about!! I have been crazy busy so excuse the lack of post, i apologize I have not been getting anywhere close to my daily entry.  So Friday saw the car passing its MOT, which is a minor thing but all the same no car = no work! So actually, phew!  Friday night saw amongst other things me spending 4 hours in traffic on my way into London, however I was not disappointed as I arrived at a buzzing fashion show held @ The Rich Mix in Brick Lane.  It's not a venue I have been to before & was a great place with modern lines, white walls and blocks of colour and a great space which hosted the A La Mode fashion show.  The event was awesome and saw some amazing new designers graze the catwalks.  Although I did not get in as much networking as I would have liked I met some interesting people who I hope to keep in contact with & apart from anything else, really enjoyed the evening.  Just 300 odd images to edit now!  A sneak preview for you of course tho!  See above and below.

To continue the hectic events I worked Saturday and then visited Swindon on Saturday night.  Only to be leave an inebriated male in charge of directions and ending up in Bath!! Sounds ok, yea well not when you need to be 100 miles the other way!!  My early night in prep for Sunday turned into bedtime at 2am followed by a 7am start Sunday.  More work and then yes, Fat Talent Live.  I know you have heard me mention the hype of this event before but seriously, I am still shaking from the excitement of this weekends performers and even more so, the amazing, AMAZING crowd,.  A few hiccups were had but the team pulled together and we saw some brilliant musicians perform a circus type punk, hip hop, freestlye rap and even a MJackson impersonator who had the crowd flicking their fingers and shouting praises from the back rows.  Again.....lots of images to edit so a sneak preview to follow tomorrow!!

Stay tuned cos the excitement is only going to grow!!  Ahhhhh, excitement!  (I haven't event had my daily dose of haribo today!)

Yuuuk to marmite....criminal......

Well I managed to grab a few moments of the fashionistas time this morning and will hopefully be bringing you an interesting insight into the world of Yolande Letshou.....not only the lady that invited me to the fashion event on Sunday (I will stop talking about that one day!) but also who in the future I plan to do some art collaborations with.  Here is a quick fire interview.....

Name: Yolande Letshou
Occupation: Artist / Journalist

So you do fashion styling, sketching, customize your own clothes, make cards ,sell and mark artworks.....anything you don't do?
LOL.  Unfortunately not - joking!  I don't do photography and only customize clothes for myself.  I just love & am completely obsessed with the arts, in fact I am in love with it.
Your true love....the thing you really want to do career wise, what is it?
Become a full time artists and retire as an Art Teacher.
How did you get started in fashion?
Professionally it began in 2005 when I applied for a position in the fashion fabrics buying department for John Lewis Head office.  I really had to sell myself as ideally a fashion degree was desired & my degree was in journalism and my background was in other media related roles.  I would say John Lewis taught me a lot about fashion and business.  Also, when I was 18 i ran my own jewelry stall in the summer for 2 years whist studying.
What makes you tick....pick one: Clothes, accessories, love, talking, friends, alcohol or Art?
I am an accessories junkie but I feel part of that is to do with the fact that my mother has been involved in the accessories business for over 15 yrs, so makes me tick the most, Art.  (A big apology to all my friends - you know i love you all!)
What or who inspires you?
Gosh, I am inspired by all sorts.  I mean a woman walking down the street in a specific way can inspire the structure of one of my paintings.  I am also inspired by catwalk shows, Artists Frida Kahlo, Paul Cezanne, fashion mags and my mother.
Favorite item of yours at the moment?
Oooooo, hard.  I would say the lady in the bandage dress which is a painting of mine, it didn't take me long but I really like the outcome and think I was in the right frame of mind when I painted her.
Most recent art piece?
The African influenced painting that I have just finished for a client.
Tell me more about your canvas's & landscapes....
Landscapes were my first love before moving to fashion.  I like to pay attention to every little but of details so they can be very time consuming and unfortunately don't sell as well as my fashion pieces.
I want to get 'in your click' and assist you on a fashion show or styling job...what would persuade you - Pro activeness / enthusiasm or just the hard cash baby!
Personality and creativity!! You need to be a really quick thinker and be able to use your own initiative as I tend to work under a lot of pressure and haven't time to babysit.
Marmite?
Yuuuuuk
Peanut Butter - crunchy or smooth?
Smooth with plan donuts, uuuuummmm.
Advise for budding creatives?
It doesn't happen overnight and only the strong survive.  Don't be easily disheartened.  I am constantly marketing myself and always carry business cards.
One piece of make up you can't live without?
Eyeliner
Final Words?
A big thank you for taking time out to interview me and anyone that wants to join my mailing list - info@lovegenevieve.co.uk

Well quite frankly I am a little disappointed that I seem to have unearthed a Marmite hater & to top it off, smooth peanut butter and on top of donuts?! Interesting combination to say the least.  I am crunchy all the way on top of crumpets but different strokes, different folks! To learn more about Yolande, her artwork, her fashion styling, paintings and all other manner of pies she has her fingers in then log on.

Gutted.....

Well I was very excited to be invited to the pre- party to London Fashion Week last night held in Knightsbridge......yes I think the grin on my face spread from ear to ear as I starting planning outfit combinations in my head.....it was going to be glorious!

Unfortunately I didnt make it.  A shoot overrun and flooding near to my obode prevented me from returning home until gone 11pm.  Knowing it would take me a good 45 minutes to get changed and another 90 minutes to get into London I feared the champagne would be finished, abandoned glasses on the bar, drunken fashionista's would be starting to grab their feather jackets & I would be stood there all ready to 'live it large mate' with noone and nowhere to do it.  So I was in a grump today, which for everyone in the office was delightful!

I haven't managed to catch up with some of the guests yet but when I do the gossip gets posted here first people!  After a facebook message from someone at 3am consiting of just one word "Pissed" I take it the evening was a great success and I cannot wait to get the low down! Watch this space.
