Cyber sabbaticals...

After reading an article that Lily Allen is giving up facebook, twitter and has even locked her laptop in a box now safely stored under the bed I wonder if it is to be a year where for once technology and communication go on a sabbatical.

Maybe they are having a tiff and need a 'break' for some time out alone. Will 2010 be a year where conversation becomes real again with actual human interaction, where your thumb regains feeling and you call instead of text, where blogging isn't the in thing to do and your hand doesn't creep to your bag / pocket every 30 minutes to check for tweet updates? How in a world so reliant on cyber communications will this romantic notion of writing a letter or popping round for a cuppa thrive? Who knows but it has given me plenty of ideas for a shoot later this month.

Sudocrem Diaries....

Alongside my tiredness Sunday I also had an allergic reaction to a face cream which has left me with an attractive cluster of red, dry patches all over my face....joy. Having just about got over the shock I can now be found hiding indoors covered in Sudocrem and using the time to actually be a little constructive!

The beauty shoot for FASHIZblack looks like it is going ahead on Friday. I have kept a little quiet about this one as it was all up in the air and chances are it still may not go ahead of if it does, not even appear in the e-Zine. However with things looking promising I thought i have nothing to lose apart from my pride (and that was lost with the seventh application of cream) so here it is. It is a beauty style shoot and I am working with make up artist Lucy Gregory who I have used before and we both recently worked together on my 'Louis & Me & Nettle Tea' series. I am hoping to secure another MUA as well to add some dimension to the whole thing. Ideas are pretty sketchy to say the least but we have a colour theme of Grey, Pink and Purple and with beautiful dark skinned models I think the effect could be stunning. Fingers and legs crossed and lets see what happens. I better get that sketch book out though and at least attempt a plan or brief of some sort!

The only other thing of recent is some backstage photo's from the most recent editorial - these can be seen at my Facebook group if you fancy a peak.

Live and Kicking...

No I am not talking about that old skooool Saturday morning program (although I did love that show) I am referencing the fact that today my sparkly new website went live.

I am sadly very excited and even sadder keep finding myself logging onto my own site and having a browse, as if something is going to change or its suddenly not going to be there! Anyway should you have a mo or two then check it out - it SHOULD be easy to browse through and even easier to find information that you want so fingers crossed that for the audience, the site works.

I feel a little odd today. I keep having massively elated moments where I get dizzy about the fab new site (shut up about that already I hear you cry) and then really low moments where I wander where its all going and if I am ever going to finish the huge pile of editing I currently have staring at me.

The thing is the editing isn't screaming its tapping, consistently and accurately against the inside of my head slowly driving me insane and even more frustrating, making me feel ever so slightly panicky that there 'Just isn't enough time.' (Said like that Rabbit out of Alice in Wonderland) In reality, there probably is. Or I need to stop procrastinating by doing blog posts and checking facebook and actually get on with processing in Photoshop.

Anyway, one thing which is almost complete is the Chocolate Blonde PR shoot which was photographed last week at Stratstone Harley Davidson in Chingford. Not decided my final view on the images yet but take a look and let me know what you think.

I will be interviewing Chocolate here soon so keep your eyes peeled for that one.

Right I'm off to do some work, and eat something chocolate based. Always guaranteed to put a smile on my face for at least 5 minutes.

Feeling a little tense are we?!

So, Britian's Got Talent has infected all TV's across the land, screaming and shouting its collection of skilled and skill-less acts (come on you know some of them just really shouldn't be there!); Mr Cowell striking his traditional high waisted pose & upsetting small children as he goes - speaking the only snippet of truth the program or its judges will ever see.  Amanda wearing yet another short sparkly dress & Piers just wishing he was the Cowell & looking longingly at that flat head chop that is going on there.

I however sit here longingly waiting for the top I have seen in the ASOS catalogue to appear online for purchase, hoping that my credit card may stretch that far.  Looking forward to the weekend as the man comes down for a couple of days and we get to spend time on a friends boat eating olives and pretending were posh folk.  Then kicking myself cos were staying at my rentals in the postage stamp room next to everything & can't have our first ever round of 'make up' nooky.  Too much info?  Lets face it, thats what you come here in the hope of,some  hardcore goss.  I left last time with a useful tip, now I leave this time with a red face & a 'wish i hadn't posted that' comment.  Honesty, it pays.  Well sometimes.

So lots of waiting but also lots of working, I have an event coming up in June where I get to photograph the lovely Katherine Jenkins again.  I am still getting really positive feedback from the pics I did of Queeny and to top it all of I have another Fat Talent Live coming up the first Sunday of June....always an event full of friends that are more like family & talent that is heading somewhere very high and very quickly.  My new assistant is amazing - look out for some pics from the events posted here, on the facebook group and of course the Fat Blog.  Oh, and if you need anymore odd moaning sesh's from me (can you tell I am in that mood?!) then head over there.  I get to grips with the infamous comment every photographer has heard....."As your there anyway can you just get a pic of Uncle Jack.  Oh and don't forget Aunt Maud and the kids."  There is no just.  Anyway, the blog is being fast updated these days with some excellent content so can recommend a read.

To end on something at least a little useful, if you haven't checked out the strobist.com site that I wrote about in my last post I can highly recommend taking a look.  It really is worth spending some time there if you want to know a little more about using flash / speedlite's.

Over and out. x
